OL 9-1660 grossed slightly more than $15,000 its first year. year, according to executive vice president Paul Siciliano, the Singer Stores grossed considerably over $10,000,000.

The tiny milk and egg shop has given way to seven stores totaling over 60,000 sq. ft. Siciliano attributed Mr. Singer's success to "his insistance on quality above all else." The executive vice president described his boss as "very forward looking and always aware of the times, but he had the ability to combine the wisdom of the past with his foresight." "He was self-educated in SO many ways and knew so much," Siciliano continued. a blueprint he knew how a building should be constructed and what went where.

It was amazing." MR. SINGER began to turn the day-to-day business burdens completely over to his sons about two years ago, but Siciliano noted, "He still took an active part by visiting the stores and making sure all standards were maintained. His rapport with the customers was fanastic." Siciliano concluded, "Whoever he met and whoever he dealt with came away, with the coneviction that this was the fairest and most straight- man they had ever met. When you dealt with him you dealt with an honest and sincere human being."
