and Sarah Jane (Conrad) Robbins. Milford was a former resident of Malden and Cape Cod, Massachusetts and was an accountant with Northeast Airlines for thirty years. He was a member of Washington Lodge A.F. A.M. of Lubec, Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, York Scottish Rites, Lodge of Stirling A.F.
of Malden, MA. He was also Past High Priest of Tabernacle Chapter of Malden and Past Grand Master of the Second Vail of the Grand Chapter. He was predeceased by two wives, Florence Stewart Robbins in 1969 and Marion Stockdale Robbins in 1991. Milford is survived by a stepson Robert Stockdale of Arkansas, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at a later date on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

She was 83. Mrs. Doherty was born in Chelsea and raised in Stoneham. She graduated from Stoneham High School in 1933 and then went on to attend business school. Mrs.
Doherty was past worthy matron of the Cresent Chapter O.E.S. in Stoneham. She also bowled with the E.I. Patch Company bowling team at Sunlite Bowling Alleys. Mrs.
Doherty leaves her husband, Hugh three sisters, Lois E. MacKenzie of Stoneham, Dorothy Towse of North Andover, and Marguerite Thompson of Winchester; and a brother, Raymond Amo, of South Yarmouth. The funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church in Stoneham.

Sterling died Nov. 30 at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles from complications of myelofibrosis, a bone marrow disease, his publicist said. On the Broadway stage, Mr. Sterling was memorable as the adulterous father in Neil Simon's autobiographical "Broadway Bound" in 1986. More recently, he was praised by critics for "the sober balance of his portrayal" of.
Rabbi Mordechai Leventhal in "Out of Purgatory" at San Diego's Old Globe Theater in 1993. On the big screen, Mr. Sterling ranged from "Me, Natalie" which introduced Al Pacino i in 1969, to playing Uncle Nate in Billy Crystal's "My Giant" earlier this year. On television, Mr. Sterling's most prolific medium, his work spanned small-screen history from the live "Studio One" and "Kraft Television Theater" in the early 1950s through roles in several series, including "High Incident" in 1996-97 in which he played the landlord.
With his natural air of wisdom and authority, Mr. Sterling was often cast in professional roles as a doctor, lawyer, judge, military officer, or as a wise older relative. He played Michael Brimm, longsuffering attorney for the detective hero Jake, in "City of Angels," a 1976 televison series based on the film "Chinatown" and memorable for its 1930s vintage Los Angeles cars and costumes. Mr. Sterling was also Judge Truman Ventner on the longrunning 1990s series "Sisters" and had key recurring roles in the lawand-order series "L.A.

Der Vartanian of Cranston, R.I., a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Glaxo Wellcome, who died Thursday at his home. He was 70. Born and raised in Watertown, Mr.
Der Vartanian was a graduate of Watertown High School and Boston University School of Business. He served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of the Glee Club and the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity during his time at Boston University. He went on to work for the Bos.ton Mutual Life Insurance Broad Street Cleansers, Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals, and Glaxo Welleome, where he spent more than 15 years as a salesman before retiring in 1995. Mr. Der Vartanian was a member of the Orpheus Masonic Lodge 36 in Cranston, the Armenian Students Association, the Armenian General Benevolent Union, and the Valley Country Club in West Warwick.
He was also a coach and official at the Little League of Cranston. He was a communicant and member of the choir of Sts. Sahag Mesrob Armenian Church in Providence and a member of the Rhode Island Armenian Chorale Group. He leaves his wife, Marion (Norigian); and two children, H. Chris of Johnston and Elizabeth Lombardo of Cranston.

Tomlinson, 85 Was a registered nurse Mary "Molly" Eleanor (Owens) Tomlinson of South Wardsboro, a former resident of Weston where she was a registered nurse, died Friday at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend, Vt.
She was 85. A native of Newtonville, Mrs. Tomlinson attended local schools, graduating from Newton High School in 1931. She became a registered nurse in 1935, after training at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing. During World War II, Mrs.
Tomlinson was a volunteer nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Later, she worked 10 years as the office nurse for Dr. Grantley Taylor in Weston. She married George Willard Tomlinson in 1935. The couple lived many years in Weston until retiring to "Cloud Nine" in South Wardsboro, Vt.
Mrs. Tomlinson enjoyed knitting, gardening, and working with her husband in their sugar house making "Cloud Nine" maple syrup. Mr. Tomlinson died in 1994. Mrs.
Tomlinson was also active for several years with the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Tomlinson leaves two daughters, Janet T. Burke of Boston and Eleanor L. of Marblehead; a dear friend, Barbara Kreider of Griffin, and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and 30 nieces and nephews.

in Everett, died Friday at the Newton Wellesley Hospital. She was 71. Mrs. Djorup was born in Cambridge and raised in Watertown and Brighton, where she graduated from Brighton High School. She majored in English at Boston University, where she graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree.
She also received a master's degree from BU and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In addition to GE, Mrs. Djorup worked at the University of Pennsylvania Rare Book Collection and at the Wellesley Free Library. She was a member of the Wellesley College Friends of Horticulture and the Arnold Arboretum. She leaves her husband, Robert S.
Djorup; a daughter, Kristin N. of Wellesley; a son, Robert L. of New Jersey; a brother, Arthur S. Verenis of Melrose; and two grandchildren. Burial will be private.

He was employed in the leather industry there for more than 40 years, working for several companies, including Comet Leather and Supatco Leather, and retired in 1993. A dedicated gardener and grandfather, Mr. Pappafotopoulos in September celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife, Stamatia "Marty" (Spaneas). Besides his wife, he leaves a son, William of Milton; a daughter, Valerie Koen of Peabody; a sister, Lemonia Nicolopoulos of Virginia; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Gonzalez said Diaz plowed through the intersection of Second and Arlington streets at 80 miles per hour, swerving into the opposite lane to pass another car. Diaz then began speeding toward Gonzalez's police car, which was headed toward the intersection, the officer said. Diaz swerved again, said Gonzalez, then ran two stop signs and smashed into a vehicle at Second Street and Broadway, killing the passenger, 18-year-old Stacey Ann Yancey of Lynn. Police arrested Diaz at Beth rael Deaconess Medical Center, where he was rushed after the accident. His passenger, Sharmin Amador, 25, suffered a broken leg in the collision, and the other car's driver, Brenda Henry, 20, was also seriously injured.
