A cultipacker is a piece of agricultural equipment that crushes dirt clods, removes air pockets, and presses down small stones, forming a smooth, firm seedbed. Where seed has been broadcast, the roller gently firms the soil around the seeds, ensuring shallow seed placement and good seed-to-soil contact.

Measure across the middle of the wheel hub to get the diameter. The wheel hub bolt pattern is the number of bolts lugs on the hub and the diameter of the circle in which they are arranged.

The only disadvantage is that you may only use it a couple of times. We initially used our cultipacker in 2007 to establish our field. We will use it again this season in "spots" that need to be re-seeded where grass is sparse.

It also leaves grooves in the soil that will help retain moisture and help prevent wash or erosion. Then, if your seeding equipment does not have a rear cultipacker attached, you would use a cultipacker again after application to press the seed into the seedbed, creating really good seed to soil contact.
