Love Stacy's Pita Chips? This recipe for Pita Chips is for you!

In life, there are those who snack and those who don't. And then there's me, the girl that eats a snack while also looking for a different snack.

The secret of highly successful snackers? Avoiding the tempting call of those cellophane-wrapped, ready-made snacks that are low in vitamins, nutrients, and protein and high in calories, fat, sugar, and sodium.

Of course, I sometimes give in to a store-bought snack and I do have my clear favorites - like Stacy's Pita Chips. I first tried them when Solal and I spent a summer in Philly and might have become a bit obsessed. But I do prefer homemade and yes, there is actually already another recipe forhomemade pita chipson the blog. I am a repeat offender when it comes to pita chips.

But if you are like me and could just have pita chips and hummus for dinner every day, you realize you need some flavor variations to keep things exciting.

Here are my 4 go-to flavors, inspired by Stacy's Pita Chips:

  • Sea Salt;
  • Parmesan, Garlic, and Herb;
  • Cinnamon Sugar;
  • and Spicy

How to store homemade Pita Chips:

I keep them in an airtight container in the pantry or in a ziplock back. They’ll last about a week or so.

Tips for making this recipe for pita chips:

  • Feeling creative? Cut the pita into other shapes or even strips.
  • If you use regular pocket pita, you can go ahead and cut the bread in half so you have two rounds — each a single layer. This will result in thin pita slices that bake up crispier and cook a little faster than thicker pita. Awesome for solo snacking but they might not be sturdy enough for dipping!
  • Thicker flatbreads, like pocketless pita, lavash bread, and naan also work great for making baked chips. These will be a little less crisp but also sturdier meaning you can serve them with your heftiest dips, like refried beans or thicker hummus.
  • When baking your pita chips, make sure none of your bread pieces are overlapped so they get nice and crispy.
  • When the pita chips come out of the oven, make sure to let them cool completely before serving! Don’t cover them until they do or they will get soggy due to the trapped steam. As they cool, they will begin to crisp up even further.

    What would work in place of coconut oil? Due to sensitivities

    • Marie

      I used olive oil for most versions, and for the cinnamon sugar version you can use butter instead of coconut oil.
