School Reviews

5 10/12/2009

I graduated from Patrick Henry in 2007, and despite the reputation it has with some folks in the area, I was very happy with the education I received. Essentially, education at Patrick Henry is what you make of it. I took plenty of AP and college-level courses and those prepared me very well for a rigorous (top 40 liberal arts) college education. Plenty of my classmates and friends attended top notch schools and it prepared most of us very well. The athletic and art programs are fairly strong- most every sport experiences some level of success. Additionally, the school has made the Newsweek rankings a few times in recent years- I don't think Hidden Valley or Cave Spring did. The new school is great- the classrooms are well equipped and the facilities are fairly safe. Parents of the kids in advanced classes are involved- unfortunately, the majority of parents are less involved and sometimes it shows with their children's academic performance.Overall, PH prepared me for the real world by forcing me to interact with kids from all across the socioeconomic spectrum and different ethnic origin, but still gave me a wonderful education that I can put to use at one of the nation's best small colleges.
