Baked Brie with Jam - Happy Mothering (1)

All you need to make this delicious appetizer recipe is a wedge of brie and your favorite jam. The creamy texture of brie pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the jam.

While I like to make baked brie in a cast iron skillet, you can use a prepared baking sheet or any oven-safe dish. And, you can pair it with your favorite crackers or a loaf of crusty bread.

By the Numbers: How to Bake Brie with Jam

Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to learn how to make the perfect appetizer for the holiday season (or any time of year).

Step 1: Preheat Your Oven

The first step is to pre-heat your oven to 375˚ F.

Step 2: Put Brie Cheese into Pan

Place your brie wheel into a small cast iron pan. I like to cook and serve brie in the same pan rather than using a serving platter because it’s easy to reheat if the cheese gets too cold.

However, you can also use a cookie sheet or other oven-safe baking dish if you don’t have a small cast iron skillet.

Step 3: Bake the Brie

Bake the brie at 375˚ F for about 15 minutes or until the brie is all melty and the brie rind is starting to puff up and turn a nice golden brown color.

Step 4: Add Jam

Pour the entire jar of sweet and spicy jam over the top of the wheel of brie. You want the jam to be at room temperature so it’ll warm slightly when you pour it over the hot brie.

You can use other types of jam – see below for ideas.

Step 5: Cut the Brie Appetizer

Cut the wheel of baked brie open using a sharp knife so that the melted cheese oozes out and melds with the flavors of the jam.

Step 6: Serve Your Baked Brie and Jam

Serve your creamy brie cheese right in the cast iron skillet with gluten free crackers. Make sure everyone is aware that it’s a hot dish so they don’t burn themselves.

If you made your brie on a baking sheet, you can serve it on a serving plate or nice cutting board.

Tips for Making the Best Baked Brie Appetizer

Go beyond the standard cheese board at your next holiday party with this cheesy party appetizer.

Are you supposed to eat the rind of brie cheese?

Absolutely. While it might seem strange, the rind is perfectly safe to eat (this is true of most natural cheese rinds)! It has an earthy flavor if you haven’t tasted it before.

Bon Appetit actually says it’s bad manners not to eat the rind!

Other flavor of jam that taste good

My favorite jam to use is hot pepper jam (especially the one they carry at Costco every year). I love the combination of sweet and spicy flavors.

However, you can use pretty much any jam that you pick up from your local grocery store like apricot jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jalapeno jam, raspberry preserves, fig jam, etc.

What to serve with warm brie

You can use pretty much anything that would taste good dipped in melty cheese, such as your favorite crackers, baguette slices, pita chips and even tortilla chips.

It also works well to serve your hot brie on a cheese board with crackers, different nuts, pretzels, fresh fruit and other cheeses.

Alternatives to using a cast iron skillet

You can also make baked brie cheese with jam on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet or other baking dish. After baking, you can serve it on a serving plate.

Storing leftovers

If you have any leftovers, they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
